Rebates and funding schemes available
Medicare - Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) with GP
You may be eligible for Medicare rebates for speech pathology services under a Chronic Disease Management Plan organised by your GP. This plan must be in place before your appointment. More information about this is available here.
-
After payment is received, we can submit your Medicare claim on your behalf. The current rebate is $63.40 per session, or more if you have reached the Medicare Safety Net.
-
Rebates are paid directly into your nominated bank account, please ensure your details are up to date with Medicare.
-
Medicare rebates cannot be claimed with Private Health Insurance for the same service.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
Swallow Science Melbourne is not NDIS registered. An invoice can be generated for self-managed and plan managed packages. Please note, it is unlikely that your plan will fund the cost of diagnostic imaging we undertake (VFSS/FEES) - NDIA have stated that the health system is responsible for any tests to diagnose dysphagia.
Private Health Insurance
We are pleased to provide invoices to assist your Private Health Insurance claims - we do not process these claims. Your private health fund extras cover may cover some (or all) of your speech pathology fees. Please contact your private health fund to enquire about your coverage for the following items:
-
Item 310 - Initial individual consultation/assessment.
-
Item 340 - Subsequent individual consultation/assessment/treatment.
-
Item 350 - Subsequent individual extended consultation/assessment/treatment.
Travel Fee
Out-of-office visits (not including residential aged care) may be available for some appointment types and by prior arrangement.
-
Travel is calculated as a return trip from our Caulfield South rooms.
-
Travel is 50% of the equivalent in-clinic appointment rate, plus kilometres at the current ATO cents-per-kilometre rate, and any parking or tolls.
-
A travel estimate will be provided before the appointment is confirmed.
Example: A visit in Bentleigh East, with approximately 15 minutes travel each way, would usually add an approximate $55 travel fee to the total appointment cost, plus any parking or tolls.
