Services

We do not accept referrals for anyone under the age of 18 years. 

 

We welcome a shared care model where local speech pathologists request and can attend instrumental assessments for their clients to assist in their ongoing local care and management.

Instrumental Swallow Assessment

Assessment visualises and analyses the movements of swallowing.  We can complete a swallow x-ray, known as a Videofluoroscopic Swallow Study (VFSS) or a Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES).

Dysphagia Therapy

Therapy may be compensatory (to make up for a change in function), rehabilitative (involving an exercise program or tools) or a combination of both.

Upper Airway Speech Pathology Treatment

Therapy requires physician referral with confirmed diagnosis of any of:

Inducible Laryngeal Obstruction (ILO), Vocal Cord Dysfunction (VCD), Paradoxical vocal fold movement (PVFM), Chronic cough, Irritable larynx

Secretion Management

Non-pharmacological secretion management strategies may be helpful for people who have increasing difficulty managing their saliva. 

Voice Banking Services

Swallow Science Melbourne can support the recording of a natural voice to create a synthetic voice for future use on a speech-generating device where speech loss is likely.
